Hyrum G. Smith was the son of Hyrum F. Smith and Hannah Gibbs Smith. He was born 8 July 1879 in South Jordan, Utah. 17 August 1904 he married Martha Electa Gee in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. He and his wife were the parents of six children. Hyrum studied for three years at Brigham Young Academy (now Brigham Young University), graduating in teaching. Hyrum Fisher Smith was born 10 January 1856. He was the second child of eight in the family of John Smith and Hellen Maria Fisher. John Smith was serving as the Presiding Patriarch of the Church at the time that Hyrum was born. Hyrum married Hannah (Annie) Marie Gibbs 12 December 1878 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
